From honouring Pride Week and Transgender Awareness to supporting Career’s Month and sharing the best student jobs on campus, November was another impactful month. Our Executive Team & Board of Directors
SSU Board of Directors went on an off-campus retreat to Ottawa to strengthen their goal setting and plans for the upcoming 2024 year.
Cat Pham, your VP of Academics, hosted the Academic Integrity Week – De-stress Fest” with Sheridan’s Academic Integrity department and Ritz, to share academic resources and supports with students.
Leia Ali, your VP of International Affairs, hosted the Winter Info Session in collaboration with the Health Centre & Sheridan Bike Hub.
Cameron Spencer, your VP of Community, hosted Careers Week at the end of November, handing out resources and information to help Sheridan students thrive in their job search.
Ritz Cruz, your VP of Engagement, facilitated the first Take Art Make Art Series: Calligraphy Workshop, hosted by student and Digital Community Coordinator, Liv.
Our Services Department
Successfully ran the Health and Wellness Fair that had organizations such as Moyo, Student Care, Guard Me, Oakville Optometry, PHSC, and much more!
Ran our first-ever on-campus flu shot clinic hosted by Rexall and helped 281 students across all three campuses
Welcomed 106 registrants for our Hire Up workshop being hosted by CEO of Hire Up Caitlyn Ngu.
Our Clubs & Organizations
Our Clubs Coordinators also held pop-ups throughout November to promote Clubs and student-led clubs hosted 25 events this month!
We celebrate the creation of 2 new clubs this month:
Indian Cultural Student Association: Aims to keep Indian youths connected with their cultural heritage by organizing fun activities, celebrating festivals like Gita Jayanti and Diwali, and providing a sense of home
Sheridan SportsBiz Society: A dynamic fusion of business acumen and athletic enthusiasm, dedicated to shaping the future leaders of the sports marketing industry.
We have 1 new prospective club registered this month:
Video Game Development Club: Our mission is to foster an encouraging and welcoming environment to aid interdisciplinary collaboration, uniting individuals with diverse skills to learn and create games.
Our Events Team
We brought back our Soup it Up event this semester on a chilly, rainy day, and served over 600 students and faculty some free hot soup to keep warm!
Our 2nd Queer Community Fair of the year was successful, yet again! It’s always exciting bringing community groups to our school and making our students aware of all of the resources available to them outside of Sheridan.
We held a Live Coffee House event at our Davis campus, giving our students a chance to perform in an intimate setting for their peers.
Our Food Services Team
Catering picked up quite a bit in November and we are proud to serve the Sheridan community more every day. Our Chicken Pesto Melt and Creamy Corn Melt was a Sheridan favourite!
We catered the homemade-style soups for the SOUP IT UP events and received a lot of great feedback.
The Marketing Street Team gave students some free samples of the Creamy Corn Melt and students loved it too!
We also welcomed Sean Kerr to the team as our new Food and Beverage Manager at our Trafalgar food spots! Welcome to the team!
