As you may be well aware, or just becoming aware of it now, the life of a first year college/university student is quite stressful. Getting out of bed for those 8am classes and endless amounts of quizzes and exams can be a feat.
Especially if you stayed up until 4am to work on that 20% assignment that could have been finished weeks ago but instead you decided to binge watch ‘Stranger Things’ on Netflix.
We’ve all been there before and trust us, we get it. But while school obligations cause us to lose sleep and stress out, the one thing that most students might worry about at some point during their time at school is…(drum roll please): housing!
Although some students are lucky enough to live close to school where they can easily drive or commute via public transportation every day, other students don’t have that luxury. They may be living in cities that make it difficult to drive or commute, so they have to live on residence or find housing closer to school. Luckily, your handy dandy friends from Sheridan Student Union have partnered up with Places4Students which helps students in need of housing. Places4Students is an organization where landlords are able to place their rooms or houses for rent. The website also allows students looking for roommates to create roommate profiles. This gives students an opportunity to get connected and find people looking for roommates or join forces together to find a place that suits both their needs.
On November 23rd, we will be partnering up with places4students and Enactus to host a Housing Fair at the HMC Campus at 11am in the main atrium. This is a perfect opportunity for students who are potentially interested in looking for off-campus housing to ask questions, learn about their rights as a tenant, draft roommate agreements or attend a rental workshop.
If you have any questions about our Housing Fair, places4student.com, or anything else, feel free to visit our offices, give us a call or send us an email and we’ll get back to you.
