We’ve got you covered: IUDs & Female Condoms
As part of our ongoing commitment to students’ health, the Sheridan Student Union has committed to funding IUDs and female condoms that students can access at Sheridan’s Health Centres. The kits that are required to insert IUDs are not covered by the supplementary insurance plans and can get costly for students.
The SSU will cover the costs for students to have an IUD implanted at any Sheridan Health Centre location.
How to access IUD Service at Sheridan:
Visit the Health Centre on campus or contact them directly to get started
Book a consultation with the Sheridan Health Centre to ask questions about the IUD, discuss your personal health and learn more about the process
Bridging the Gap in Sexual Health Products
Sheridan Student Union has also provided funding for female condoms on campus. It was a priority for us to support access to female condoms specifically as they cost substantially more than traditional condoms.
The female condoms are available for free at all Sheridan Health Centres, courtesy of the SSU. As we continue to work towards creating more gender equity and access to sexual health support, we are proud to offer students a variety of options to feel empowered and support the physical wellness journey of all Sheridan students.
More Sexual Health Initiatives and Support:
Over the last year, the Sheridan Student Union has worked on a few different initiatives to support sexual health initiatives:
Sexual Health and Violence Support Committee: Sexual Health and Violence Support Committee is a student-led committee that aims to bring awareness and educate students on sexual health, gender-based violence and consent. Our mission is to provide tools to create a safer, more aware, and trauma-informed campus.
Joni to Make Accessible Period Care a Reality at Sheridan: Sheridan Student Union has purchased joni Dispensers to help bridge the gap in access and offer free menstrual products inside all SSU washrooms on campus. We are committed to limiting financial distress for students, erasing the stigma around menstruation and providing students with free and accessible period care.
