Q: What's a project or assignment you're really proud of working on?What made it so rewarding?

A: “One project I’m particularly proud of is from my elective course, where I had to create mind maps, VR videos, infographics, and brochures. Initially, it was pretty stressful because I was tackling a lot of new design concepts and tools I wasn’t familiar with. But as I went more into the process, I started gaining confidence and seeing the results come together.”

Q: What are some of your goals for your role this year at the SSU?

A: “I already achieved all the goals I planned at the beginning of this year, which is amazing! I got a 4.0 GPA and was able to obtain three on-campus jobs. I made so many good friends and learned a lot of valuable things. I think my next goal right now is to finish three online courses about Data Analysis, Adobe Photoshop and Professional Writing. I also trying to learn Spanish! Hopefully I can achieve this goal because I said I would learn a new language five years ago :)”

Q: What skill(s) did you gain from your program that helped you succeed in your position at the SSU?

“I have gained excellent communications skills and the ability to efficiently collaborate with other people.”

Q: What made you choose Sheridan and what made you select your program?

A: “I am in the Business Administration - Finance program. I chose it because I was keen on finance two years ago when I was learning about the 2008 Financial Crisis.”

Q: Tell us about your experience in your program. What surprised you most? What was challenging?

A: “I have had a good experience throughout my program and I think the key is to be more active and actively finding opportunities. Sheridan students actually have all the services and the tools they need, therefore, we should take advantage of that. What surprises me the most is how many discounts I can get for being a Sheridan student, especially through the SSU Work Perks. One challenge I face in my program is group projects. However, I recognize that they offer valuable opportunities to work with different people, helping me develop important teamwork skills that will be beneficial in my future career. Therefore, I see the challenge as an opportunity to learn and improve my communication skills.”

Q: Are you a part of any SSU clubs/associations or volunteer work?

A: “I have a special love for events—both participating in and organizing them. I’ve volunteered at Mission Zero, joined Yes Feed (a non-profit organization that usually hosts many events for Vietnamese students) and participated in the Social Change Ambassador program. As I am originally from Vietnam, I am part of the Vietnamese Student Association. Other clubs I am a part of are the Cozy Caves Club, Sheridan Swiftie Club and Enactus Sheridan. Through these clubs I help organize mini shows, movie nights, and hopefully more events in the future!”

Q: What's something you learned about yourself in this program?

A: “Through this program I have learned that just because I an introverted person, does not mean that I am not a good communicator or am not sociable. When I realized this fact, it made me much more confident and motivated to do better work.”

Q: Tell us about yourself: What are some of your interests, hobbies, passions:

“I love reading, learning, listening to songs from the 2000s and learning new things, including dancing, new instruments, skiing or diving. I love listening to podcasts, watching old Disney movies, or old rom-com movies. I also love documentary movies, finance videos, social issues videos, and debating. Due to my love of learning and reading about various topics, I got into debating and have since joined competitions and have been a part of a debate club.”

Q: What's one of the most exciting things you've done in your role so far? What made it so fulfilling?

A: Working with the SSU has been such a rewarding experience to me. It has brought me so many good friends and the chance to meet lovely people every day. I’ve also had the opportunity to participate in so many fun and interesting activities during the holidays and through SSU events! This has made my time at the SSU even more special.”
