There’s no better time to remind ourselves of the importance of taking care of mental well-being. Whether you’re a local student juggling classes and social life or an international student navigating a new culture, we all face unique and collective challenges.
As your student union, we wanted to share some helpful resources and supports that you may find helpful throughout the year. Take a look below:
Empower Me
As part of Sheridan Student Union’s Health and Dental Plan, all full-time and part-time domestic students are automatically enrolled in the health coverage provided by Studentcare. The plan also includes Empower Me, a FREE wellness service that connects students with qualified counsellors, consultants, and life coaches for a variety of experiences.

Guard.Me for International Students

ConnexOntario is a valuable resource for anyone seeking mental health and addiction services in Ontario. They offer a helpline that connects you with local support services, making it easier to find the help you need. Whether it’s counseling, crisis support, or addiction services, they’ve got you covered. -
Learn more about GMSSP International Student Support
The Global Mental Health Support Program (GMSSP) focuses specifically on the mental health needs of international students. They provide resources, guidance, and support tailored to help you navigate the unique challenges of studying abroad. From workshops to one-on-one support, they aim to make your transition smoother and more enjoyable. -
Learn more about Hope For Wellness
The Hope for Wellness Helpline offers support to Indigenous students and communities. Available 24/7, this service provides culturally appropriate counselling and crisis support. If you’re feeling overwhelmed or just need someone to talk to, they’re there to listen and help you find a path forward. -
Learn more about Talk4Healing
Talk4Healing is a helpline specifically for Indigenous women, providing support and resources related to mental health, wellness, and healing. Their trained counsellors understand the unique challenges you might face and are dedicated to offering culturally sensitive support. You can reach out for help and connect with others who understand your experiences.
