SSU INTRODUCES EXPANDED HEALTH COVERAGE PLAN

We’ve got you covered even more this year. Here’s how:

Sheridan Student Union (SSU) is proud to provide a Health & Dental Plan to eligible SSU members. The SSU Plan provides important access to healthcare benefits specifically designed to fill the gaps in provincial health care—including coverage for prescription drugs, paramedical practitioners, vision care, dental care, and travel benefits. It has always been important for us to not only create an insurance plan exclusively for students but to continue to adapt our plan to suit the needs of our students and the way of the world.

Effective September 1st, 2022, the following modifications to coverage/insured benefits have been implemented as part of the SSU Health & Dental Plan:

Eligible oral contraceptives (commonly known as birth control) are covered at 100% up to the existing overall prescription drug maximum of $5,000 per policy year.
Prescriptions for smoking cessation are covered at 80% up to a maximum of $500 per policy year.
Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) coverage has been increased to a principal sum of $15,000.
New or replacement eyeglasses or contact lenses are now covered at $150 per 24 months.

We are proud to share that the SSU Board of Directors has subsided the cost of these changes, meaning you have access to more support, without having to pay more out of pocket.
