SSU Donates $1, 200 to Türkiye and Syria Earthquake Relief Assistance

Sheridan Student Union recognizes the impact that world news can have on the well-being of students, the Sheridan community, and the world at large. We aim to provide support for those impacted, and most recently, in response to the earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria, have donated $1, 200 to support the families affected. The federal government announced that Canada would match every donation made to the Canadian Red Cross Earthquake in Türkiye and Syria Appeal, up to a maximum of $10 million, so this donation has also contributed to a larger national effort.

Within the Sheridan community, it is important to note that during Reading week, Sheridan College campuses will remain open, and support services are available both in-person and virtually. We encourage all students in need to use to the support resources available:

Ongoing Support & Resources at Sheridan

The devastating news may trigger an overwhelming emotional response, even after you have returned from Reading Week. Please know that SSU services and resources are available year-round. We understand there may be a heightened need to pray, meditate or reflect at this time. For more information on multi-faith prayer rooms or any of the noted supports please contact the Centre for Equity and Inclusion at equity@sheridancollege.ca or ext. 2229.

We aim to create a safe and inclusive place for all students, and encourage you to seek support, and reach out to the resources that are available to the Sheridan community. Please do not suffer in silence.
