#ProudToBeWell: 5 Workout Ideas for Your Mind and Body

The connection between our mind and body is undeniable, but sometimes, we find ourselves prioritizing one area more than the other. If you’ve been looking for a way to support multiple dimensions of wellness (and also want to keep the #SheridanPride spirit alive), we’ve got a fun list of activities for you to try.

  1. Celebrate Through Art

    Intellectual, Social, Emotional, Spiritual Wellness

Creating art in celebration of who you are or people you support can be a powerful form of expression. Art, in all its forms, can help you release hidden emotions, connect with your passion and contribute to your community in a healthy way. Whether you want to create digital artwork, use a paint brush and canvas, or find materials laying around your house, tap into your creative side and embrace the freedom of your own creation.

2. Expand Your Reading List

The more books you read that are written by and for members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community, the more inspired you will feel to share explore your own story and live with compassion and love. At our Evening with Johnathan Van Ness event, JVN discussed his personal self love journey by saying “I’m an HIV positive, gender non-conforming person from a very rural space, but I’m also someone with white privilege and it’s important to talk about that. [I think we all] can find some space within us that can guide us towards healing.”

If you’re looking for great 2SLGBTQ+ books, The Sheridan Library and Learning services have a list of books that have won the Stonewall and LAMBA awards, and you can also check out our collection of books in the Links We Love series. Expanding your reading list can help bring words to your feelings (plus it’s a great conversation starter when hanging out with friends).
