As a co-op placement student, your responsibilities will include:
Curate, develop, and maintain a consistent, valuable, and timely news & updates content calendar for the 2026-2027 academic term
Schedule and conduct interviews and meetings with the Student Executive Team and other student leaders to gather stories, insights, and updates that are valuable to our student audience
Create web content that builds awareness of the SSU's services, advocacy efforts, initiatives, and impact on the Sheridan Life
Analyze web content performance and identify trends, opportunities, and gaps within the content strategy
Consult with departments across the organization to gather stories, highlights, and achievements.
Help shape and write updates that tell a cohesive story about organizational impact and student experiences.
Work collaboratively with departments to continuously improve the Monthly Update format and layout
Coordinate with student leaders and staff to collect supporting details, photos, and content assets.
Expanding awareness of Creative Corner through content strategy and storytelling through email marketing and website
Connecting with students, faculty, and staff across creative programs to collaborate on meaningful content
Developing content that highlights diverse forms of creativity at Sheridan, including creative writing, student entrepreneurship, innovation, design, and artistic practice, and more.
Develop email content and establish initiative ways of engaging with followers and tracking performance metrics.
Develop creative, concise and engaging copy for SSU event pages
Draft, edit and publish approved event pages to the SSU website in alignment with SSU's Brand Voice, SEO objectives and accessibility requirements.
Volunteer Roles

The SSU Volunteer Program provides Sheridan students with an opportunity to support Orientation activities while gaining hands-on experience, building connections, and helping create a welcoming environment for new students. Volunteers who complete 10 or more volunteer hours may also be eligible to receive Co-Curricular Record (CCR) credit.
Volunteer responsibilities may include:
Welcoming students and helping with wayfinding
Distributing welcome items and promotional materials
Supporting event setup and takedown
Assisting with check-in and lunch service
Sharing information about the SSU and Welcome Week activities
Supporting engagement activities and other tasks assigned by the on-site supervisor
We are looking for students who are:
Friendly, welcoming, and comfortable interacting with others
Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions
Strong communicators and team players
Willing to assist with event setup, takedown, and general event support
Enthusiastic about creating a positive experience for new students

As a Supervisor, Social Media Team your responsibilities will include:
Oversee the day-to-day workflow of Social Media Coordinators and contribute with maintaining SSU’s content calendar in collaboration with the Social Media & Community Engagement Manager
Execute effective and creative social media strategies and when needed assist in the creation of content for SSU social media channels (Instagram, TikTok, Threads, Facebook and YouTube)
Report to the Manager, Social Media & Community Engagement monthly socials engagement metrics & team performance
Assist in the development of training materials for Social Media Coordinators alongside the Manager, Social Media & Community Engagement – as well lead team onboarding/training when needed
Monitor comments that are sent on Meta platforms and TikTok, respond to messages, and engage with students
Liaising with different departments within and outside the SSU to facilitate the promotion and community development of our events, services, clubs, governance, food services and organizational initiatives
Responsible for reviewing team content before publication for accuracy, brand voice and brand guidelines
As directed by management, will be expected to attend certain SSU day and/or night events to engage students with live social media content when needed
Act in such a manner that reflects the professional values and expectations of the SSUI and operate in accordance with the Values and Mission as well as the by-laws and policies of SSUI.
Support the Sheridan Student Union's photography, videography and multimedia content from strategy and storytelling through production and delivery as needed

As a Supervisor, Social Media Team your responsibilities will include:
Assist the Marketing and Communications department in developing and executing promotional campaigns and engagements on the SSU digital channels
Develop and coordinate long-form content that is valuable, meaningful, and
supportive to Sheridan’s diverse student population.Build and nurture the SSU’s Digital community by creating content and engagement opportunities that encourage connection, conversation, and a sense of belonging.
Use analytics and audience insights to evaluate content performance, understand student interests and behaviours, and identify opportunities for growth.
Develop creative strategies to grow the SSU’s YouTube audience, including experimenting with content formats, series, storytelling approaches, and community engagement tactics.
Monitor YouTube trends and emerging content opportunities to help the SSU stay relevant and create content that students genuinely want to watch and engage with.
Collaborate with students, staff, and internal teams to identify stories, topics, and perspectives that reflect the diverse student experience.
Develop and maintain content for SSU TVs across campus, creating timely, engaging, and community-focused content that helps students feel informed, connected, and a sense of belonging in shared campus spaces.
Track and report on content performance, using insights and learnings to continuously improve content strategy and audience engagement.
Create digital experiences that bring the SSU’s Strategic Plan to life and help students see themselves, their experiences, and their communities reflected in our work.
Create opportunities for students to connect with and better understand the
SSU’s mission, vision, and role in creating a meaningful student experience.Creating engaging content regularly through the creative use of different mediums across multiple SSU social media platforms, to foster online community among Sheridan College students and organically increase the reach and profile of the SSU.
