The Promotions & Engagement Team Member will work closely with other team members, The Promotions & Engagement Team Supervisor and Social Media & Community Engagement Manager to brainstorm and execute SSU promotional activities.

Social Media Coordinators are responsible for enriching the student experience beyond academics and will report to the Manager, Social Media & Community Engagement and the Supervisor, Social Media Team.
SOCIAL MEDIA COORDINATOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the Marketing department in developing and executing social media content and campaigns on SSU’s Instagram and Tik Tok channels.
Liaising with different departments within the SSU to facilitate the promotion of our events, services, clubs, governance and organizational initiatives.
Develop and execute effective creative social media strategies. Will be responsible for trend research and the development of storylines, asset creations and audience engagement tactics.
As directed by management, will be expected to attend certain SSU day and/or night events to engage students with live social media content.
Expected to interact with Sheridan students in-person to gather and execute Interview Style content.
Act in such a manner that reflects the professional values and expectations of the SSU and operates in accordance with the Values and Mission as well as the by-laws and policies of SSUI.

The Managing Director is the most senior professional staff member of the SSUI. The primary role of the Managing Director is to assist the Executive and the Board of Directors in maintaining the vision and mission of SSUI, while also ensuring that the organization is operating to support the best interests of SSUI members. The Managing Director is also responsible for providing continuity to the organization by mentoring and advising the Executive on matters related to SSUI operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Human Resource Management
Provides direct supervision and oversight of the management team at the SSU.
Clearly communicates SSUI strategic priorities to the professional staff team.
Conducts and monitors goal setting with professional staff team including the development of tools to measure the success of each department.
Identifies gaps in organizational structure and works closely with the SSU Board to address them.
In collaboration with the Human Resources Director, ensures that human resource gaps are filled whenever possible.
Oversees recruitment, training and development of professional staff team.
Trains staff, as appropriate, by organizing professional development sessions and making available all relevant information, as it relates to each individual position.
Holds regular professional staff meetings to allow for communication, collaboration, troubleshooting and developing plans.
Ensures that all human resource functions are consistent with the SSU’s policies and relevant provincial and federal labour legislation.
Operational Oversight
Oversees the operational continuity of the organization.
Supports a high level of quality including enhanced customer experience in all SSU services.
Ensures that operational feedback from Executive and professional staff are examined and, when appropriate, are efficiently addressed.
Conducts operational planning to ensure continuous improvement of all services, businesses and facilities.
Maintains and ensures workplace standards and a professional atmosphere within the SSU offices.
Works closely with Sheridan College administrators to ensure that all facilities in which the SSUI operates follow operating arrangements between both parties. Ensures that appropriate systems are in place to maintain all necessary business and liquor licences.
Ensures that SSU-managed facilities are in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations and that all employees are trained appropriately according to relevant standards.
Leads the SSU senior management team in risk management monitoring including incident reporting and follow-up.
Organizational Continuity & Mentorship
In conjunction with the Chief Returning Officer CRO, plans and organizes the annual transition retreat for the Board of Directors and Executive.
Provides research and advice to Executive on professional development opportunities that will assist in their roles.
Facilitates other learning, teambuilding and strategic planning opportunities for Board of Directors, Executive and professional staff.
Advises the Executive on matters related to their respective portfolios by providing expertise, historical context, industry norms, and professional opinion.
Maintains constructive relationships with the campus community and local municipalities.
Pursues professional development to ensure the SSU is pursuing current initiatives and standards within the SU community and maintains relationships with similar organizations and peers through a professional network.
Works with the Student Executive Director to facilitate Executive transition meetings with Sheridan administrators and other key stakeholders.
Corporate Oversight
Holds an advisory, ex-officio, and non-voting position on the Board of Directors.
Provides information and expertise on strategic and financial matters, providing historical context, industry norms, and opinions at the request of the Board of Directors.
Serves as the Treasurer of the Corporation.
Works closely with the Student Executive Director in matters related to contract negotiations, ensuring that the SSUI’s best interests are represented and ensuring all binding documents are legally sound.
Acts as the Custodian of the Seal of the Corporation.
Works closely with the Student Executive Director to develop an Annual Report Updates and maintains all pertinent corporate documentation including the letters patent, constitution, policies, procedures, minutes, corporate filings and contracts.
Works closely with the Student Executive Director and Board of Directors to manage risk and ensure that the corporation is appropriately insured.
Acts as a signing authority.
Acts as the main liaison with the SSUI legal counsel, keeping the Student Executive Director and the Board of Directors informed of any outstanding legal matters.
Advises and provides information to the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors.
Works closely with the Board to develop agreements and protocols between the SSUI and Sheridan College including those related to the operation of the Student Centres, the approval and remittance of student ancillary fees, etc.
Financial Management
Oversees annually, with the Finance Manager, the external auditors and assists them in preparation of the Financial Statements of the SSUI.
Oversees the SSUI investment portfolio under the advisement of the Board of Directors’ policies.
Ensures that the SSUI operates in a fiscally responsible manner.
Ensures that accurate and complete financial statements are produced.
Oversees financial analysis of the entire organization including projection of future financial positions with recommendations for any budgetary amendments.
Oversees periodic budget audits to ensure that revenue and expenditures are being accounted for in an accurate manner.
Provides analysis and recommendations to the Board of Directors regarding the annual SSUI ancillary fees and sits as Co-Chair of the joint Ancillary Fee Committee.
Oversees long-term financial plans for capital projects and related ancillary fees.
Works closely with the Director. Finance to oversee SSUI Investments and CAAT Pension Plan contributions and management.
Oversees the Finance Director and the senior management team in the development of an annual budget.
Other duties as assigned by the SSU board or essential for your role.

QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will have the appropriate post-secondary credentials and a proven record as a collaborative leader within an organization of relevant activity and scope. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with students in a high-energy, dynamic environment. A strong financial background is also required. The following qualifications are minimum expectations for the successful candidate:
Post-Secondary education in business, education or equivalent.
Postgraduate education is preferred
Experience in the post-secondary and/or non-profit sector.
Experience in governance.
Minimum 5 years experience in a management capacity.
Must exhibit strong business acumen skills; be able to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to change, and an ability to manage people, time and resources.
Experience in managing corporate finances including the development of an annual budget, the preparation of financial documents, and a strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Familiarity with a Board of Directors governance structure, and the Not-for-Profit Corporations Act of Ontario.
Experienced in policy implementation and creation.
Must experience an aptitude for working with students, and within the administrative environment of an academic institution.
Ability to work some weeknights and weekends.
Ability to travel between Sheridan campuses.
Must be legally able to work in Canada, and travel to conferences (both domestic and international).
Must be willing to undergo a criminal records check and credit review.
