Our Clubs & Organizations
The Clubs Coordinators were hard at work this month with orientation, club executive meetings, and Winter Clubs Fair!
Clubs hosted 13 events this month and we have 6 new clubs this month:
Womxn in Trades and Technology Sheridan (WITTS) (DAV): Is for anyone in skilled trades, engineering, science, or architecture course at Sheridan, looking to be a part of a like-minded community.
Pakistani Student Association (HMC): Fostering cultural exchange, creating a sense of belonging, and promoting understanding among students through events, activities, and initiatives that showcase the beauty of Pakistan.
Sheridan Improv Club (TRC): Sheridan Improv Club is a place where you will laugh, discover, and learn to trust yourself and others. Our goal is to allow students the opportunity to expand their creative horizon and try new things in a non judgmental space.
Athletic Therapy Society (DAV): As a program and as a career, Athletic Therapy is extremely tight-knit and close. We work to create events, activities and opportunities for our students to connect. We aspire to provide support to our students throughout their degree and in their future careers.
Sheridan's Artsy Crew (DAV): Join fellow artists, from beginners to experts, in exploring the world of visual expression. Unleash your creativity, share techniques, and immerse yourself in a supportive community that celebrates the joy of painting.
Tie the Knot (HMC): Discover the joy of crochet in our inclusive club, whether you're an advanced crocheter or a beginner.
We have 3 new clubs looking for student leadership positions this month:
1. Davis Book Club (DAV): we aim to create an inclusive and vibrant space where everyone can express their thoughts and feelings about the books we read.
2. The Cozy Caves' Club (DAV): a welcoming and inclusive community dedicated to introverts and those who appreciate the quieter, more contemplative side of life.
3. Japanese Student Society (TRC): a representative group for Japanese students within Sheridan College.
Our Events Team
We kicked off the year with some fun Welcome Week events, including indoor roller-skating rinks, K-pop themed pub night, escape rooms, and the Connor Price concert! We had over 400 students visit our roller skating rinks at both Trafalgar and HMC campuses during Welcome Week.
Wellness Week at the SSU was a great success. Our goal was to have small pop-up booths on campus that made people stop and just take a tiny break from everything else going on. We had colouring pages, crafts, hot chocolate, and a raffle to win a prize basket.
Our Food Services Team
Our most popular food item for this month at HMC were our Quarter BBQ chicken and fries. Looking to try it this month? Here’s how to find The Station on campus.
Every day, we put out a daily feature and everyone seems to love the Mac and cheese.
We released a new SSU catering menu and catering has picked up and we got a lot of positive feedback.
All three campuses participated in Soup It Up events, where we offer students, staff, and faculty FREE soup for the day and gave out cauliflower wings as FREE samples for this month!
Next month we are having an All-You Can Eat Pasta Valentine's dinner and some Valentine's goodies, Cupcakes, Donuts, and Valentine's drinks.
As your Student Union, we are proud to share company-wide contributions and recognize the talented and hardworking student leaders who help make it happen all –year long. To stay up-to-date on the latest Sheridan Student Union news, join the community and follow us @the_ssu!
