Our Clubs & Organizations
The Clubs Department hosted our first Annual Clubs Conference on February 27th where different departments across the SSU and Sheridan led workshops to help club executives learn ways to develop their skills!
Clubs hosted 25 events this month and we have 7 new clubs this month:
Japanese Student Society (HMC): JSS at Sheridan College connects Japanese students, providing advice, information exchange, mutual support, and cultural activities for both new/current students from Japan and those interested in Japan within the international student community.
Film Club Sheridan (TRC): A community of film students, film enthusiasts, or someone just discovering the world of cinema, our club offers an immersive and inclusive space for students at Sheridan College to explore, appreciate, and celebrate the art of filmmaking.
Sheridan Telugu Network (HMC): Supporting students from Telugu-speaking in Canada which includes providing mentorship, offering resources for academic and cultural integration, and creating a supportive community where members can share their experiences and support one another.
Sketch Circle Trafalgar (TRC): If you are in any arts-related program, this is the place for you! Join us for a fun-filled doodle session once a week to focus on filling up those sketchbooks.
Video Game Development Club (TRC): Video games have the possibility of being personal to each player, but to create such an experience takes people from many disciplines. We aim to foster a welcoming environment for those of any level or skill to collaborate in the fun of developing games.
Sheridan Comp Sci. In Business Society (TRC): Unlock the potential of tech and business at Sheridan Comp Sci. in Business Society! Dive into data science, cloud computing, and real-world problem-solving. Join a community that hones skills and fosters success at the tech-business crossroads.
TOS (HMC): This will be a creative space for editors, photographers, and videographers to share their skills and evolve with the club.
We have 1 new prospective club looking for student leaders this month:
The French Club (DAV): Join the French Club for a fun and casual experience with the language and culture. Dive into the French language and make new friends.
Our Events Team
This February, we held two Sheridan’s Got Talent events, giving students the chance to showcase their skills and advance to Ontario’s Got Talent in March. Congrats to our Winners!
We also had some fun staple events, including the classic Emo Pub Night and a concert—this time featuring up-and-coming country star, Brayden King.
We organized some paint night events at all campuses in celebration of Black History Month, led by Holistic Arts Coach, Micah Nelson.
Plus, we had about 100 in-person attendees at HMC for our Live Speaker Series event, featuring Canadian sportscaster Kayla Grey! The event was also live-streamed to the other campuses.
Our Food Services Team
We have a new Food Special Deal! Stop by any of the SSU CoffeeHouses on Friday after 4 pm for $3 pastries, coffee, or chai. This offer is available every Friday, while quantities last.
Each campus has curated a special menu for couples, featuring appetizers, main courses, desserts, and drinks for the week of Valentine's Day.
At the Express station at HMC, we indulged in Valentine's-themed treats such as cupcakes and donuts. And we offered two specialty drinks: a cold beverage named "Love Potion" and a hot drink called "Cupid Hot Chocolate." These offerings were a hit among students and staff alike.
We’re excited to share with you our sample menu item for the month of February: the Aloo Tikki Wrap.
Our Aloo Tikki Wrap across all Three campus was a delightful fusion of flavors, merging the beloved Indian street food staple, aloo Tikki, with a contemporary twist in the form of a convenient wrap. Each wrap featured flavorful spiced potato patties, crisp lettuce, tangy chutneys, and fresh vegetables, all enveloped in a warm tortilla.
This special received rave reviews from our patrons, offering a satisfying and flavorful option that perfectly balanced textures and tastes.
