New Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Training at Sheridan!

New Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Training

Available this fall semester, starting with first-year students!

The Centre for Equity and Inclusion presents a suite of human rights, equity, diversity and inclusion training modules that will be rolled out to Sheridan students in the 2021-2022 academic year. The first of these modules is Introduction to Human Rights which will be available in the Fall semester, followed by Anti-Racism, Social Power and Privilege, and Anti-Oppression.

The Centre for Equity and Inclusion is working alongside the SSU and institutional partners to launch the first in a series of training modules about human rights, equity, diversity and inclusion. Sheridan’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Student Training is designed specifically for Sheridan students, with each module being no more than 30 minutes in length.

Introduction to Human Rights Training will be accessible through slate for first-year students. Upon Completion of the Introduction to human rights module, you will be able to:

  • Describe human rights and the Ontario Human Rights Code

  • Define and identify different types of discrimination and harassment

  • Differentiate between Equality and Equity

  • Explain the Duty to Accommodate

  • Identify, address and prevent various kinds of oppression and be an ally for your peers.

Stay tuned for more opportunities to learn and participate in the future!

Although this module is only available for first-year students at the moment, we do look forward to providing more learning opportunities for all Sheridan students in the near future. By completing this and future training modules, you will play an important role in the creation of an environment at Sheridan, helping to make sure everyone experiences a sense of belonging, dignity and well-being.
