What is your goal as a member of the Board this year?

“As a member of the Board of Directors for the Sheridan Student Union (SSU) this year, my primary goal is to advocate for initiatives that enhance the overall student experience and well-being at Sheridan College. I aim to represent the diverse voices and needs of the student body, ensuring that their concerns are heard and addressed effectively. Specifically, I am committed to:

  1. Promoting Diversity and Inclusion: I will work to create a more inclusive campus environment where all students feel valued, respected, and represented. This includes advocating for cultural diversity initiatives, supporting marginalized communities, and fostering dialogue and understanding among students from different backgrounds.

  2. Enhancing Student Support Services: I will advocate for the expansion and improvement of support services such as mental health resources, academic advising, and career development assistance. It's crucial to ensure that students have access to the resources they need to succeed academically, personally, and professionally.

  3. Increasing Accessibility to Financial Support: I will push for initiatives that increase access to scholarships, bursaries, and financial aid programs to alleviate financial burdens and ensure equitable access to education for all students.

  4. Engaging Students and Building Community: I will actively engage with students to understand their needs and concerns, and I will work to foster a sense of community and belonging on campus. This includes organizing events, and forums where students can come together to connect, share ideas, and collaborate on projects that benefit the Sheridan community.

Overall, my goal is to be a dedicated advocate for students and to contribute to the creation of a supportive, inclusive, and thriving campus environment at Sheridan College.”

Tell us a fun fact about you:

“I'm an avid traveler and have a goal to visit at least one new country every year. Exploring different cultures, trying new foods, and meeting people from diverse backgrounds are something I find incredibly enriching and fulfilling. It's not just about ticking off destinations from a list, but about immersing myself in new experiences and broadening my perspective on the world.”
